At Our Wholeselves Therapy, Stephanie Van, LCSW, offers trauma-informed, culturally grounded psychotherapy for individuals navigating depression, anxiety, relationship struggles, and the lasting impacts of trauma. Their work is centered on collaboration and healing with minoritized communities—those often marginalized due to race, gender, sexuality, class, ability, size, migration status, or age.

Stephanie draws from an eclectic mix of therapeutic modalities, including the Trauma Resiliency Model and Internal Family Systems, while grounding their practice in community wisdom and culturally affirming approaches. They are especially committed to helping clients feel safe, seen, and empowered in their healing journey—honoring their whole selves. Their clinical background spans community mental health, crisis intervention, case management, and psychoeducation across nonprofit, school, and higher education settings.

About Me

Stephanie is a licensed clinical social worker, educator, and community organizer with deep personal ties to the work they do. Raised in a working-class, immigrant Chinese-Vietnamese family in Northeast Los Angeles, they understand the dissonance many Asian American youth feel when navigating identity, expectations, and belonging. Their lived experience of suicidal ideation, coupled with the profound loss of their college best friend to suicide, fuels their empathy and advocacy—especially for young women of color.

Before becoming a psychotherapist, Stephanie spent over a decade working in social services and organizing within LGBTQIA+ and immigrant communities. They earned their Master of Social Welfare from UCLA and have since taught at Cal State LA, focusing on culturally grounded practice, social policy, and community healing.

Stephanie embraces their identities as a trauma survivor, gender nonbinary person, and child of refugees—and brings that authenticity into their work. They are passionate about creating affirming spaces where people can reclaim power, challenge social norms, and learn to love their whole selves.
