Joshua De La Cruz
Like Arielle's Light, I am passionate about breaking down the cultural stigma surrounding mental health care, especially within the AAPI community. As an Asian-American myself, and through my partnership with Little Tokyo and other work within the community, I've repeatedly seen how this stigma causes people to suffer in silence. Many of the youth I've worked with often feel pressure to display success and "not burden others," which prevents them from seeking the help they need. It has been incredibly meaningful to provide therapy to youth, helping them break through these barriers and showing them that there is no shame in their weaknesses. I believe that fostering self-compassion can empower people to build healthy relationships and strength. I believe that educating both youth and parents about the value of mental health care creates a ripple effect of change across generations, which is a joy and privilege for me to be a part of.

About Me
“I just don’t know what to do anymore.” How familiar does that phrase sound? Perhaps you feel like you’re losing control of yourself, losing the people you love, or are burnt out from work. Perhaps you feel paralyzed by shame. Everyone has dreams, goals, and aspirations for their life, but, somewhere down the road, “life” has a way of making these dim. The great news is that your story doesn’t end here! I believe we can create new paths for ourselves—and I would like to walk alongside you in yours.
My approach to therapy is collaborative and explorative. In providing a warm and welcoming environment, I hope to provide a space for you to discover the deepest parts of yourself, which is where we often find our true values. You may wonder “why” you do the things you do, and those questions are worthy of discovering answers. Shame, purpose, and authenticity are common themes I dissect with clients, redefining moments of grief as invitations to our own healing. These are all universal experiences of what it means to be human, and when we learn how to grasp that, I have found profound and lasting change to occur.
If you are ready to finally break old patterns and learn how to face your fears in a way that is deeply fulfilling, bravo. It takes a lot of courage to step forward for yourself. I know finding the right therapist can be a daunting and exhausting process—whether this is your first time in therapy or your fourth—so please don’t hesitate to reach out for a free 15-minute consultation to see if we might be a great fit working together!
Let’s talk.
